What writer can dream of higher accolades than those posted in the Feb. 9 & 16 (i.e., double) issue of The New Yorker -- the one with Rea Irvin's traditional cover portrait of Eustace Tilley. Adam Gopnik and Roger Angell devote themselves and The Talk of the Town to Updike's talent, skills, and inspiration, and pages 64 through 79 provide us with an incredible selection of pieces from his work. All worth reading again and again, and cherishing.
